We strongly support Wayne County's sale of the Wilcox and Newburgh Mills to private owners who will do the hard work of rehabilitating these historic mills and activating the surrounding land for public benefit. Wayne County does not need to own the land to protect it.
Reclaim the Mills is a coalition of community members dedicated to preserving the history of Ford's Village Industry Mills, and celebrating the role they played in the economic, geographic, and cultural development of Southeast Michigan. Time is running out to save these incredible buildings and to share their history with future generations. The best way to save them is to give them to someone who will!
There will be many opportunities to get involved as we mobilize our efforts and support the community partners that are working diligently to rehabilitate these mills through adaptive reuse.
Until then, call and email your Wayne County Commissioner and tell them you support the sale of the Mills in the name of preservation and land management. Reclaim the mills!
